Westport charterboat captains and crews are well trained in helping both the experienced and the novice alike. It's their job to make your day as rewarding an experience as possible and they'll make every effort to help you hook and reel in your fish!

A breeze off the ocean can be chilly. Dress warm (you can always peel it off!), wear rubber sole shoes or boots and a windbreaker. Some charter services sell light rain gear at modest prices.

Bring one! Coolers are welcome on board. Local shops can put up boat lunches for you, too.

Washington requires a license for most recreational fishing. Folks who fish a lot usually purchase a season license every Spring at their neighborhood sporting goods store. Westport charter services sell short term licenses. The cost is $10-$12 for a day of fishing.

Your catch will be cleaned or filleted at sea. You will leave the boat upon returning with your fish in a plastic fish bag. You may purchase a bag of ice and take your fish home fresh or you can have in cut into steaks or fillets and vacuum packed right here in town. You can also exchange it for canned fish. Storage is available for those fishing multiple days.

The short answer is - when they're biting! But we never know when that is for sure so the best thing to do is to schedule your trip around your schedule and hope for the best! Weekends are the most crowded so if you can fish during the week - all the better. If you are limited to weekends be sure to make your reservations well in advance.

Good question! All of our members have many years of experience. They all love to catch fish. Most are owner/operators. Their livelihood depends on you having a good time and passing the word on to your friends. Word of mouth is the best advertising we can ask for so ask a fishing friend to recommend someone. If your in town and haven't selected a boat yet, wander down on the dock and meet the boats when they come in. It's not hard to tell whether or not that day's crew had a good time.

Considering the high cost of a good vessel and its maintenance, charter fees are relatively low. They certainly haven't kept up with inflation over the years. Each charter service prices their trips a little differently so be sure to make sure what the price includes and if there are any "on-board" charges. And remember: the lowest price is not always the best price!
